RWBY Volume 6 Episode 4 - So That's How It Is: Review

Image
The team is still mad at Ozpin, especially Yang who says to Ozpin, “There was so much you hadn’t told us. How could you think that was okay?” Ruby asks Ozpin what his plan to defeat Salem is, to which he tells her that he doesn’t have a plan. Great… We now finally get to hear Qrow’s thoughts after punching Ozpin. On that note, when he punched Ozpin, who had another thing coming and fully deserved it, he technically also hurt Oscar, who didn’t deserve to be punched at all. Qrow feels betrayed by Ozpin. Ozpin gave Qrow, the walking embodiment of bad luck and Murphy’s Law, a place in the world and a sense of purpose. But, now that the cat is out of the bag, Qrow tells Ozpin that meeting him was the worst luck of his life. Ozpin then locks himself away in Oscar’s mind.  Yang is still mad at him and Blake and Weiss start questioning what they’re going to do now. This can be viewed in two ways; Ozpin is being a coward by locking himself away or Ozpin locked himself away to conte...

RWBY Volume 6 Episode 3 - The Lost Fable: Review

Image
To quote Marty McFly from Back to the Future, “Woah, this is heavy.” There’s a lot of information to discuss in this episode, so I’m just going to highlight some key points in this review. This episode is a huge lore dump, we finally see the backstory of Salem and Ozpin, the origins of Remnant, why Ozpin has to gather all four relics, and some other details. The writers and animators did an amazing job presenting the story in a very immersive way. An amazing job well done by the CRWBY, they absolutely nailed this episode. This is one of those episodes that you can’t only watch once, because there are some things that you will miss. A lot of questions were answered and many things were revealed. One of the big details was that Salem and Ozpin (originally Ozma, a reference to The Wizard of Oz) were lovers. Going into this episode, I thought Salem was originally a pure, innocent, and kind-hearted person. Nope, she was the complete opposite. Salem is very arrogant, stubborn, and self-ce...

RWBY Volume 6 Episode 2 - Uncovered: Review

Image
Episode two starts out with a big confirmation regarding the fate of a certain character: Cinder IS NOT DEAD! My intuition was right regarding the mystery figure from the poster! I like the use of the flashback to when the gang is packing up and Qrow is explaining why Ozpin said to take the relic of knowledge to Atlas, specifically Argus, since Atlas closed its borders. The flashback gives us better context and reasoning why they are going there in the first place. Of course the only one who is not happy is Weiss. They have to go to Argus, the primary trading port between Anima and Solitas, because it is also where the Atlas military has their largest base outside of the kingdom’s borders. More of the cute antics are seen when Blake quickly dashes over to Qrow’s side and she says “I mean we do have the missing heiress to the Schnee Dust Company.” Blake’s dry wit is also present here when she says the aforementioned line. We now do have clarification the relic can change size, wh...

RWBY Volume 6 Episode 1 - Argus Limited: Review

Image
The episode starts right out the gate with this amazing train fight ( RWBY Volume 6 Episode 1 Clip: Train Fight ). The first 5-6 minutes of this entire episode was Miles and Kerry checking every single box of fan complaints: the girls are back together, we want to see them fight together, we want to see Ruby use her semblance and combine with other people, Sun hasn’t been keeping up with his team, where’s Neptune? In other words, there was a lot of fanservice put in the episode by the writers. The reaction from fans in the theaters when I went to the premiere was fantastic, as was the reaction to the beginning of this episode that people saw at the RWBY-gen:Lock Mega Panel at NYCC. People had the same reactions all over social media, highly praising the episode as one of the best premieres for among all the volumes. Some people, myself included, commented that this was their favorite episode in the entire series. At the panel, people cheered when their favorite member of team R...
